The events with Felicity last week were a fantastic success! Lots of inspirational thoughts and ideas…

There’s lots more going on this week, including a debate on wind power and a Primary school Science Challenge. All kindly supported by EDF and London Array.

And topically, London Array have now officially become the world’s largest offshore wind farm. Massive congratulations to them!

Mr William F Readdy – Former NASA astronaut with over 600 hours experience actually in space and a huge amount of experience with the space shuttle and who was US Navy test pilot before joining NASA and who now works with Richard Branson on Virgin Galactic amongst other very interesting projects… The list goes on!

He will be joining us tonight at 5.10pm for a live internet link-up as part of our Science and Engineering week activities and we’re really lucky to be able to talk to such an interesting and important man!

The bacteria on your hands could get you in trouble…

…according to this article on the BBC, which links nicely to the fantastic lecture from the UKC team last night.

Also, seeing as it is National Science and Engineering Week,  you should all go over to the British Science Association website and have a go at their science week quiz. Let me know how you get on!

Many thanks to the outreach team from the University of Kent who came and gave a superb lecture on the physics of the very cold and also made tasty ice cream for everyone. This is my tribute to them…

Don’t miss tomorrow’s lecture on forensic science at 5.10pm in Taylor Hall, I’ve been promised shotguns and a murder mystery!

Friday – 3 days and counting!

Next week is science and engineering week – not just in our school but all over the country. Lots of really fun activities and events will be happening. Details to follow.

In the meantime, here are a couple of sites that some of you might like to visit:

Doc Brown’s Chemistry Revision – Amazing site with so much detail including A-level

S-Cool GCSE – Decent revision site for GCSE physicists needing a little extra help
