Wednesday – Who could’ve predicted this…

March 13, 2013

A Mr WillIam, who I’m reliably informed is a musician of some kind, has pledged £500,000 towards Science education via the Prince’s Trust. Just a click on this generous and clearly very wise man will take you to the full story courtesy of the Beeb:

Thursday – Happy… Thursday!

February 14, 2013

Good thing my new year’s resolution wasn’t to produce more blog posts! I would’ve failed miserably. Lots of revision on the cards from here on in though and I intend to use this blog and my Twitter as much as possible to help out with that.
Starting today with a video that should give you A-level chemists a few hints on how to determine shapes of molecules:

The star of the video is an American scientist and teacher called Tyler Dewitt. He’s got lots more great videos on various topics on his Youtube channel.

Tuesday – I’ve been a bit busy…

February 5, 2013

Very sorry, as usual, for not posting too frequently. Lots going on and v little time to blog so to speak…

We went to London and saw this man:

Professor Lord Robert Winston

And we also went to the University of Greenwich to use their extremely expensive chemistry equipment – massive thanks to them!

A really amazing campus, great people and impressive labs

Wednesday – Another post?!

December 12, 2012

Just had to post a link to this great website:

Have a look at some amazing materials!

A superb site from the folks at UCL about materials science that showcases some amazingly futuristic ‘stuff’.

Tuesday – Some Incredible Research

November 20, 2012

Probably the most elegant piece of research I’ve seen in a while and a fantastic outcome:

Scientists at the University of Cambridge have used nerve cells from a dog’s nose to repair spinal damage and give the dog back use of its back legs! Jasper is looking healthy and doing well!

Wednesday – A flurry of activity!

November 14, 2012

I’d be the first to admit that I don’t post as often as I wold like to but when I do get round to posting… I like to think it’s worth waiting for!

The Amazing World Clock from Poodwaddle – displays some fascinating data in a really eye-opening way

The Royal Society of Chemistry’s Learning Site – Is packed full of useful resources for Chemistry students of all ages

Also – on the topic of the RSC: There’s a public lecture on the chemistry of drug discovery at the Duke of York’s School in Dover tonight. I’ll see you there!

Wednesday – Thanks Ben!
